Can you use a TT Go 700 to connect with a Bluetooth headset (like the Cardo Scala Rider) and get spoken navigation directions?
I would like to use my TomTom Go 700 on my motorbike. I can sort out a Ram mount and could live with only visual directions. However I would invest in the cost of a headset if I knew it would give me spoken directions ( I would also like bluetooth headset mobile phone use through my Nokia 6230i but that is less important than navigation instructions.)
Very grateful to hear from anyone who has tried this or who knows enough about the 700 specs to advise. Thanks

Martin, I doubt very much that this idea will work, firstly the 700 does not support Bluetooth connection to a headset device, a wired connection might be possible feeding into an intercom system on the bike, but that is not practical with wires everywhere.

The 700 contains a spinning hard drive which will not respond to well to the high vibration loads it will be subjected to – I think it would pack in after a few months use.
You could always take the HDD out and fit a solid state flash drive in its place (there was someone trying this on the forum a while back see This Thread for some details - not that I think this type of modification is a good idea), this would overcome the vibration problems, but not the waterproof side of things or the communication problems.

To be honest I would save up for a Rider two, which comes with the Scala headset and will support the full Bluetooth capabilities you need from the device, it also uses memory rather than a HDD and its waterproof - Mike

I think you are right about the vulnerability of the HDD. I could live with the lack of waterproofing as I avoid riding in bad weather and it just seems a shame to have a good satnav with bluetooth and not be able to use it on bike and in car. Anyway, I will save for a Rider two but may wait to avoid the early bugs and see if the price falls (like it did after I bought my 700!)
Cheers again for taking the time to help.
Martin
