Hi All
I have been running MM for some months now, the other day I launched it and there was no GPS signal but my receiver was connected via bluetooth so I decided to change the GPS settings
Not sure what I have changed them to as every time I load MM now it locks up within about 5 seconds and I have to soft reset my HP5500
I can select the map if I am quick enough but that is all, it locks up every time.
I have removed MM from the HP and reformatted the SD card, reinstalled and nothing changes
Please help
Regards
Paul

Can you actually get to the Memory Map Menu/ GPS/ Setup and select it? - if so:
Manufacturer NMEA
Model should be greyed out
Port select this to your Outgoing Bluetooth Com Port (Com 8 or Com 5 for most IPAQ's but it could differ)
Baud rate should be selected to the speed of your GPS device, as you don't mention which one it is I can't be more specific on this setting.

If you cannot try the above without the PDA locking up it might be time to consider doing a hard reset to the device, this will wipe all data from the unit so make sure you have the important data backed somewhere before trying - Mike

Mike
Thanks for the quick response, I use the holux 321 gps receiver however, I cannot get into MM to select the correct one as you suggested
Hard reset looks like the way to go, any threads or "How To's" on here about the HP5500
Regards
Paul

You can get a manual for the device HERE which will explain what to do, from memory I think you press and hold the two lower outboard buttons whilst at the same time pressing the stylus into the reset hole until the display goes out. Wait a few seconds then press the reset button and the unit will start up in the same way as it left the factory - Mike

It will be exactly the same as when it was first purchased, so there will be nothing loaded on the unit, I would recommend any software you re-load is done via the PC and not from a back-up, if you have MM on the PC simply dock the PDA to the PC and Active Sync will start, in MM application select Mobile Device/ Install Pocket Navigator (this is how MM version 5 works, the earlier ones are similar) - Mike

Not an option I like to prescribe though the hard reset is drastic and wipes out everything, I would recommend you get Sprite back up as an application and use this to restore the device in the event of a future failure, its not always as easy when out and about to recourse to the PC, with Sprite loaded and configured properly you can hard reset and recover the software to a known good standard in minutes, food for thought, but at least you are back up and working with the device - Mike
