Simple question is TMC worth bothering with?

Looking at all the problems in the UK with TMC is it even worth bothering with at this current stage in its development?

I had a Pioneer AVIC-X1R in dash SatNav with TMC and it worked no problem in this country and abroad, so the issue isn't with the radio signals, it must be with the receivers.

I now have a TT 910 and want a TMC receiver, but it appears the antenna isn't up to the job at the moment.
