Hi Everyone,
First post on here and hopefully more to come !
I have an M600 with TT6 on and the Holux 236 as my receiver. This winter I travelled to Austria and decided to use my TT6. I know how to get there as I have done many times beforehand. My problem is as follows;
In the UK my receiver works great, no problems always have signal where I go. But to my surprise once I got on the other side into France I couldn't pick up anything. The receiver was able to see the satellites but it wasn't connecting. That happened all the way through France, Belgium, Germany and Austria.
Does anyone know why that is or has anyone got the same problem as me?
Your help is much appreciated!
Thanks

I've seen this happen a few times. The satellite bars appear but it refuses to lock on. You just have to switch it off and on again (maybe a few times) until it sorts itself out. _________________ Gone fishing! |

Did that a lot I have to say. Does it make any difference if I was on the move?
I am going to Amsterdam tomorrow so I will take it with me and see if it works out there. Fingers crossed!
I will update when I get back.

Wait in a position where the unit has a clean line of sight to the sky, make sure you have obtained a signal before moving off, once the signal is acquired it should remain locked on when you move off - Mike |

It does take longer to get a fix from COLD when you are on the move. This is because the receiver must have a clear and continuous line of sight to the satellite for 30-60 seconds before it can lock on to it. If you are moving then some object (bridge, tree, building etc) may block the view and it has to start again.
If your receiver is doing a warm start (off a few hours or less) then it should reaquire a lock on the known satellites within a few seconds so it doesn't matter that much if you are moving.
Even when you are moving, it should get a fix from cold within 10 minutes (perhaps in as little as 1 minute). If it is taking longer than that then something is wrong with it. Try taking the battery out for a few minutes might help. They can be tempramental at times. :x _________________ Gone fishing! |

Well to my surprise it did work in Amsterdam, so I don't know why it didn't work. I think it might be because I was on the move like you said.
I am going to Romania in a couple a months so hopefully it work then as well.
Cheers for your help!! |
