Just put the card in to the device and use it, I have only ever had problems with one SD card and formatting which was 8GB in size and I was using it before SDHC was supported by the TomTom software. It will work without requiring any formatting - try it straight out of the packet.

The TomTom only acts as a card reader when connected to the PC so you still have all the format options available via Windows, but backup your device fully before trying any format commands, get the wrong drive letter and your device simply won't work again without the back up.

I cannot see the fascination to be honest with formatting something that isn't needed - Mike

Good man Thumbs Up The back up is the single most important thing you can do with one of these devices, having the data on removable media isn't something everyone does but it is a very well worth while job - PCs and hard drives can and do fail from time to time - Mike
