Help I3 map/gps problems :(

hi i got a garmin i3 unit and on the "view map mode" the map doesnt update its self, ie it doesnt show you your current location, eg if i set off at point 1, i drive 1mile down the road, the garmin will still show im at point 1, rather than where i am now, it takes ages for it to update current location.....

the bar along the top knows exactly where i am, its just the screen isnt updating the map

BUT its all fine in Navigation mode, the map moves when i move, its very strange, i rang garmin and they advised me to do a master reset i did upgrade from 2.7 to 3.2 but my friend is going to downgrade the software for me see if it helps

you'll find that going back to firmware v2.7 will solve the problem...let us know how you get on..

i dnt use my I3 very often as i rarely go out of town, but i recently had POI loaded after the 3.2 so could it be the amount of POI that is causing it too? lso when i press the 3 buttons when unit is out, will it reset back to 2.7? or do i need to do it via PC

You need to do it via the PC. Download the executable from the links earlier in this forum, and run it. It will downgrade you from 3.2 to 2.7. I have done this up and down a couple of times, but have settled on 2.7. Since doing this I have much reduced numbers of lock-ups. I wouldn't say they have been totally eliminated, though, just much rarer.

i have gone back to 2.7, its a little better, but still lags, could it be the POI

been testing this out for months now and the only thing i can see what making it happen is the signal strenght, when i get full signal in map mode it tracks fine, when it drops 1 bar then the fun begins.

just check the signal bars when it starts to lag in map mode.
