Ah, thanks.

I did try several times. Will try again tonight. No biggie if it doesn't work though - 2.7 is fine by me!

What functions, if any, do you "lose" by going back to 2.7? I think you have to put a space in the postcode entry bit, but is there anything else?

Paul B - Thanks for the info. I've just sucessfully downgraded my I3 to V2.7 and reloaded POI's etc. Now to see if I still get the occasional freezes/lockups as with 3.2.

philai3 - Renault Scenic (Athermic W/S)!

Just noticed this. Do you have an antenna installed? I have a Renault Megane with Athermic W/S hence my Antenna located on top of the rear view mirror. The dotted part of the windscreen is not coated and the antenna means i get no signal problems.... However it doesn't cure the 3.2 firmware....

I have downgraded to V2.7 and now have no freeze ups and any of the problems I had before.

How often do Garmin release updates? Is it roughly every year?

Hi Paul
Mounted on the windscreen, with no external antenna, I found the i3 lost signal quite a bit. I bought an external antenna which I have positioned on the car roof near the tailgate. I run the cable through the car, under the trim etc - not a big job, took about ten minutes. However, after doing all this, I found I get pretty good coverage by attaching the unit to the drivers side window. However, I find it's less "natural" to keep looking at the unit in this position. I tried the I3 mounted directly next to the rear-view mirror. Good signal, but it was too close to me, and it got tiring re-focussing all the time. I thought of putting the antenna next to the mirror, but
1. it's magnetic, so I'd have to glue it to the glass, or fix it with a sucker or something.
2. It came with about 10 foot of cable, which I'd have to tuck out of the way.
3. It was pretty easy and neat to stick it outside the car. Presumably better signal too.

I wasn't having too many problems with the 3.2 firmware, just occasional lockups, and I just wanted to try the 2.7 because everyone says how good it is. The unit came with 3.2, so you'd expect it to be Ok with that, wouldn't you?

Double sided tape holds it on top of the mirror nicely.

I doubled it up along the trim around thewindow and the excess went down the front of the dash where it meets the window.

Fair enough

Appoligies, I posted this in the 'i3 Crashing' thread, but now, reading on, I think it is more appropriate here:

Hi, I installed 3.20 on my i3 a few days ago and used it today on a trip to london on well charged Ni-Mh batterys (still showing 4 bars!) It constantly hung and stopped navagating several times, and said "trouble accuiring satellites" loads of times (on a motorbike???) It never did any of this on my old version (2.70 I think, but I didn't note it before upgrade) and I have done the same journey several times before now, with no problems.
I should add that after I upgraded I loaded the latest Speed Camera database from PGPSW and the MaFt POI's together, as usual.
Please can someone advise me how to revert back to 2.70, and where I can get the software? Many thanks. Gerry.

Gez,

How is the i3 on a bike.?

I'm planning on getting a Honda bike and am not keen to muck around with the i3 with regards to audio output.

I dare say you cannot hear the voice, so how do you manage, especially with sunlight.?

TIA
