i had that problem a while back, i had to find some old image files and it seemed to work. I downloaded the database via the site and not using the manager, it worked on the next update. May be a better answer though from someone else??

I cant seem to get the 1.5.0.0 to work tonight, doesnt want to update Crying or Very sad

Thanks for the advice, tried it, but still have the gray dots. I've also tried deleting the poi file before using poi loader to reload the files. Also tried using different options in camera manager and the previous version of camera manager. Still get the gray dots. Question

The grey blob is displayed by your Garmin when there's no bitmap/icon associated with that type of POI. A bit strange this one, especially as the bitmap files appear present-and-correct in your POI directory.

Once the relevant POI/bitmap files are in your POI directory, it's all down to POI Loader to actually get them into your Garmin - what version are you using? Have you changed this recently, or have you tried a different version?

How many other POI categories do you have? Have you tried just the speed cameras by themselves?

Hi Ash, thanks for all your help. I've deleted all the pois and reloaded from the camera database page using camera manager. That's solved the problem. The POI loader version is 2.3.2.0

I have to admit I had inadvertently loaded far too many poi categories. There must be a limit where this problem starts. Wonder if the answer is 257?

Just to add my thanks to Ash10 for his wonderful s/w. Thumbs Up

The V2 beta does everything that I would like - nice clean speed icons and adding voices also. It's much easier than using the 2.4.0.0 beta POI Loader and WAV files. Produces much smaller .GPI file also.

Now all I have to do is convert my modified Liz Whittaker voices into MP3 - a job for tonight !

You are on v3.90, which no longer crashes with over 257 categories, but it is possible that instead of crashing, it simply stops displaying the bitmaps...

Either that or for some reason it's hitting a corrupt bitmap and not coping beyond that point.

swing, as far as I know version 3.90 is the latest update for the 310. It seems to be able to cope with about 290 categories + speed cameras. Thats about 82000 poi's. Seems better to load the cameras on the nuvi and leave the rest on the SD card.

Indeed it is.

Good to know - it's worth pointing out to others that all previous Nuvi 3x0 firmwares, and (currently) the latest 660 firmware still has the 257 category limit.

OK, so I am trying to download the app as suggested by Philpugh in another thread so that I can access voice warnings etc but each time I try and run the saved file I am encountering a problem and it won't install properly. Any suggestions, it saves to my hard drive Ok but that's as far as I can get, as soon as I try and run the install the camera icon appears in my task bar, and I then get a message saying the application has had to close. The camera icon in my task bar disappears as soon as I hover over it
I should add that I am running XP Pro with IE6
I have POI version 2.4.1.
Having read other messages I note some people have had to do a system restore. As I understand it that deletes any and all documents post the restore date so that is not an option for me since I use this as a work PC

Version 2.0.0.1 beta is now available :D

Very minor change - generated POI filenames now have the speed as a word instead of a number (ie: PocketGPS_UK_Thirty instead of PocketGPS_UK_30).

This is to stop some versions of POI Loader from being too clever for their own good, and overriding the warnings settings based on the filename.

The example voice warnings - http://tinyurl.com/2rvqx6 - have also been updated accordingly.

Enjoy! ;)

A new database came out yesterday. Once Camera Manager has downloaded the updates you need to install them to your Nuvi with POILoader.

Does anyone have any other ideas than having all the above settings OFF, to get Windows Vista working with Camera Manager please?
