thanks ash. I have now changed the timings, but as yet i have no reminders to update, is this normal?

No - you should start getting the reminders pretty much straightaway.

Once Camera Manager has downloaded the database, it won't do so again until the version number changes - this is done in order to reduce bandwidth demands on PGPSW.

It sounds like it can't find the database that it did download - if you've changed the POI directory recently this could be the cause, or it might have accidently got deleted. Have a search on your hard disk for "PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera Database.zip" - it should be in the same directory that POI Loader is using - if not, copy it there.

I have previously manually downloaded a speed camera database onto the unit, do you think this is what is is detecting?

No - Camera Manager won't know if you do anything behind its back manually.

ianandrewhay wrote:
Also do any new updates automatically replace any previous ones?

Yes - old versions of the camera database are overwritten automatically.

To force Camera Manager to download the database immediately, download and run this:

http://tinyurl.com/y73fjb

Some browsers (eg: Firefox) will open this as text - just select File then Save As from the menu to save it to disk... ;)

Thanks ash... all working now. I think the problem started originally because i put the folders on various drives.

All i need to do now is take the unit for a test drive!!

Thanks for putting in a lot of your own personal time to help a lot of people with this software!

When you said that the update wasn't picked up, was it just that you weren't getting reminders? Or did it not even download the new database?

both 'current version' and 'last checked' are blank... presumably from running the registry hack! but not been 'filled' since

I am a bit confused with all the speed cam utilities out there for the i3.

I used to use the one on PocketGPSworld that cost £2 a time & upload it with POI uploader together with other POI's - does this replace it or use the same database as the one I just mentioned?

Is it simply just loading it up & it will install the speed cam settings I need, & not overwrite my other custom POI's?

thanks

This is designed by Ash to allow you to adjust the settings of the warnings for the database that you download from pocketgpsworld.

So that you can decide how long before a camera you get a warning and wether you also get an overspeed warning and when.

Major new release - 1.5.0.0 beta now available!

Camera Manager has had a major re-write over the last few weeks, and here it is:

http://tinyurl.com/nvlm4

Changes made:

A different version of the PGPSW camera database is now used, to facilitate some of the new features.

IMPORTANT - Before running this new version for the first time, you should delete the downloaded database ('PocketGPSWorld Speed Camera Database.zip') from your POI directory.

Removed Quit button. To quit Camera Manager, click on the close icon in the top-right of the settings window. Click on the 'Cancel' button or press 'Escape' to minimise the settings window as before.

Added option to add ACPO margin to the overspeed warnings. This margin is the leeway recommended by the Association of Chief Police Officers before prosececution occurs. Please note that this is just a recommendation, and some forces (notably North Wales) choose to operate a zero-tolerance policy instead. The default setting is off - use with caution!

Added option to display speed limit signs instead of camera type icons:

With camera types displayed (as before)

With speed limits displayed (new)

Added a Paypal button - incase you'd like to contribute something in recognition of the effort that's gone in Camera Manager. Blah, blah, got no job at the moment, mouths to feed, blah, blah... ;)

Tested on my i3, running v2.7 firmware and POI Loader v2.3.1

Enjoy 8)
