I'm looking at buying a new car, high on the list of contenders is a Ford Fiesta (don't laugh, I need something that my daughter can drive, she ain't getting behind the wheel of my Land Rover having only just passed her test!).

The SatNav option for this vehicle is the Bosch Blaupunkt EX. It would add £1,000 to the purchase price. As far as I can tell this system relies upon getting its map directions from a CD/DVD.

Looking around this doesn't seem like a particularly good deal, so I'm wondering what other options I might consider for a half-decent GPS system?

Looking for something built-in rather than hooked up to the cigarette lighter socket.

Any suggestions?

Andrew

If you were to go with the built in factory fitted option remember that no facility to install or use the Safety Camera database exists Sad . I would go for a btm end GPS TomTom one, Nuvi 300 or yes an I3 ( garmin by all accounts have more up to date mapping) you could make the electric conection more permanant by wireing into the cars electrical system but with the GPS unit totaly removable.

Hopefully my reply will generate more posts in response, hope you get sorted out Thumbs Up .
