So far so good with the 910.

Text to voice makes the POI messages very easy, change opening screen image etc. but I have noticed one problem.

I pass quite a few Redlight Cams. in quick succesion, it voice warns on the 1st one but not the following, are the warnings omni-directional or too close?.

If not any explanations ?

Also it seems that on the hard drive, you can see via TomTom Home, there are some satellite images Europe and America. Is there any way to view them as yet or is it some, yet to be announced feature.

The satellite images appear when you zoom out in browse map view, as for the safety cams, are these ours or TomTom's?

For the images try going to Browse map then Zoom all the way out, you will see the pictures that are stored on the device.

As for the warnings being too close together, it might be your warning text is too long to play before the second alert is picked up, I have noticed only today that the navigation voice takes preference over the warning voice. I got the "Warning mobile camera speed limit .... At the roundabout take the third exit" etc - never experianced this before, but it is still early days.

Try switching the redlight warning to a Brief spoken warning or even a sound effect and see if that improves the situation for yourself.

Hi Mike

Wow!! what speed of reply. I'll try the satellite image Zoom and come back.

As for the Redlight it is a text to speech with just 'Redlight' there no other warnings close to these to interfere.

But as you said early day's yet.

Thanks.

I have experienced this with the POI warnings too. Most noticable driving down the M42 with the variable speed gatso's. Out of the 10 or more cameras I got perhaps 2 warnings, even if there was a big gap between them and no other voice instructions, seemed to have a mind of it's own as to which ones to tell me about. I have a feeling this might be a bug!

Vicky

I also notice that despite me informing them last year when the 700 was released they still haven't fixed the problem of not being able to see/read the complete text message if it's longer than a certain number of words(but still one text message), just goes off screen with no scroll, to make it worse it doesn't even read the whole message as it only reads what's on the screen. So I have to open the message on my phone to read it all.

Hi guys & Gals

I too have noticed this error.
On my route to work there are 2 gatso's on the same road facing different directions approx. 800 metres apart.
I always get the warning as I approach the first camera but never the second.
I tried shortening the distance for the warning down to 100 metres but this didn't work on the way to work this morning but it did work on the way home tonight. Confused
Although it has to be said 100 metres is no good for warnings in reality, just thought I'd check to see what happened.
Must be a bug of sorts.
Off to e-mail Tom Tom.
Other than that, well pleased with the unit.

CeeJay.

The Safety Cams are Pocket GPS. Should we be using some other Database?

Of course not ;) I haven't noticed the issue you describe on my 910 but will test.

Darren

Just to let you know I do not have this problem on my 510

On a road I travel there are 2 cams less than 100 yards apart and I get warnings for both

regards

I have also been getting this problem a good example is on the M1 roadworks and the specs cam's, get some warnings but not all.

I have also noticed that the 910 will flash a warning but the audio warning does not sound, however drive past another camera and it works as expected (same speed limit etc). At first i thought it was me not hearing it but i then drove past it again and no audible warning, there were no direction warnings or anything else to interfere with it, so maybe a bug.

Regards

Peter

I'm kidding there are no other comparable databases, but the problem does exist as other poster's have described.

Hi Guys.

Just to let you know, my problem that I stated earlier in this thread is exactly the same as mrstella's.
I get the flashing icon for a second cam nearby, but no audio.
Forgot to mention that bit Embarassed

CeeJay, and others, I first noticed this behaviour on my unit yesterday on the A17 Sleaford By-pass, flashing warning but no audio, nor was there any nav prompt or additional camera close by, it did it yesterday, and repeated this behaviour this afternoon on the way home, but really strange it was only on this specific road - everywhere else en-route worked fine - Mike

The problem does not appear on the 300 or 710 either but it does happen on the 910

I'm getting this as well (910) - I think, though, that it's only happened when the second camera is of the same type and speed as the first. Is this what other people are getting
