Yes, I did that, so I can have a different wav for each category.

I have a nice lady saying "Thirty miles an hour maximum please" and "Possible mobile camera ahead" etc, different for each type of camera.

PostPosted: Wed Mar 14, 2007 10:40 pm    Post subject: Is full 7 digit postcode search connected to version 1.06? Reply with quote

It's been a while since my last post about a problem with 1.06

Can anyone who has downgraded from 1.06 to 1.05 tell me if you still have full 7 digit postcode search?

Because currently I am using 1.06 and it has full digit 7 postcode search and I'm not sure if this is connected to version 1.06 and I wouldn't like to loose that

Please can you let me know

Many Thanks

Robert

Canīt get it to work, first I have 3 files "gatso.bmp" , "gatso.wav" and "gatso.asc" in the same dir on my pc..

open the poi configurator and starts

Main catorgory name = gatso
Target system = navigonOEM
Map region = Europe
Cat name = gatso
Cat no = 1
ZoTx = 6
Asc file = ....\gatso.asc
ZoBM = 6
Bmp file = ....\gatso.bmp
IV WAV = ....\.gatso.wav

converting

then I copy observer.obs to (poi observer) dir on the gps
and the gatso.bmp to bitmaps and the gatso.wav into sounds in the (poi observer) dir.

please help
get only the little red box that says Gatso and a beep when near a cam.

Nearly - you've done the hard bit.

Looks like you are putting a pathname into the congirator for the wav and the bmp, that matches the asc pathname?

That will fail - you actually have to put the pathname for the asc file, but then just a dot followed by the filename for the wav and bmp.

so you put something like this in the configurator:

c:\cameras\gatso.asc
.gatso.wav
.gatso.bmp

That help?

POut the bmp and wav into the same directory as the configurator on your PC when you run the convert, so it doesn't need a pathname, from memory. Long time since I did this and I don't have access to a satnav at the moment!

For interest.
I have just upgraded the UK map from Sony(NV-U50G). to do this you have to install new software. this changes the software to version 1.50.02. this version of software wwhen run with the virtual com program will not find the GPS on com port 0.
You cannot get the POI dtatbase to coexist.
If you revert back to software version 1.05 you cannot load the new map.
I had this problem previously with software version 1.06where version 1.06 does not work with the virtual com software. I doengraded to version 1.05 and all works fine except that you loose the upgraded postcode entry.
It would appear that if you want the new map updates you cannot install the POI speed camera database.

Anyone any ideas?

Hi all,

Anyone who knows if I can install POIObserver on a NV-U71T ?
If it fails can I just re-install the unit from the CD/DVD ?

I don't think you can I'm afraid, although I'm prepared to be corrected.

I think your choice is either to use POI-Warner, which may well work a lot more easily (but you have to pay a little for it) or wait until Sony get their act together and get their camera add-on available (don't hold your breath).

Actually, I'm not even sure POI-Warner works with it, but you can find them here:

You could try this;

http://www.scdb.info/en/plugin-speedlimit/

Its fairly simple and works okay on the Sony U50g

I have no use for the camera POI's, most cameras in DK is mobile and I don't drive that fast anyway.
I need POI's for shops, etc. Usefull POI's, and the ability to make my own easy.

POI Warner doesn't run on 71t. I have asked them.
