Tomtom Nav 5 and lifedrive problem. DB Cache

Hi,

I am having some problems using TomTom Navigator 5 with my new lifedrive.

Everytime i try to load the tomtom program i get the following error message

"Not enough free DB Cache Memory to run this application"

Everyting else on the lifedrive seems to work perfectly except for tomtom which unfortunatley is one of the main programs i use. I have tried all the most obvious fixes like downloading the current version. I have version 5.201 (5344).

I have only recently purchased the lifedrive within the last couple of weeks. Before this i had a T3 which decided to pack up, however before it packed up tomtom used to work perfectly so i am reasonably certain that the SD card is the problem.

I have seen other posts that describe a program called DBCache tool however i have installed this and i am not sure how or what settings to use.

Has anyone else had similar problems with the lifedrive and tomtom ? if so has anybody been sucessful in getting the two to work together ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Try rolling back to 5.12.

Apparently 5.201 is very hungry on dynamic heap and the only PDA capable of running it without memory issues seems to be the old T3. All the newer devices have smaller heaps.

I would also suggest a soft reset before running Tomtom (but doesn't this take ages on a lifedrive?).

I've never had any dynamic heap probs myself, so I can't help with software or settings I'm afraid.

Here's a reported 'bypass' for your heap memory problems (it deals with the symptoms but doesn't cure the problem).

Go here http://mytreo.net/downloads/author-Palm.html and download "meminfo 1.1". It says for Treo but apparently it works fine on the LD.

This enables you to manually clear your cache and defragment without having to reset.

Theoretically, if you do this each time before launching Tomtom you should be okay. Yeah, it's a chore I know, but if it gets Tomtom working then it is surely worth the effort?
