Those that are stealing them are not only looking for the tell tale empty cradle stuck in the window, but for the ring marks left by those of us conscientious enough to remove the cradle in the first place.

A pain as it is, the only way to hide them is to wipe the windows too.

Note : I fully support wiping windows... BUT :-

How do we know that thieves target cars with the ring mark?

I've never noticed a ring mark left by my cup (Granted, I havn't looked from the outside in either.....)

Isn't it more likely some scroat saw you drive into (Garage, Services, Home) and notice the shiny thing?

Then just came along later and WHAMMY! Break in Sad

I live in a tiny close nit village. car parked under lamp by village green, yet no one saw or heard a thing.

Police said that the sucker marks are what gave it away.

Didnt take radio, didnt take tool kit they used to cut through the loom, didnt take my wallet!!! (just 5 quid from inside it, left the cards, but they have been cancelled anyway)

My own fault for thinking this sleepy hollow was a nice secure place to live

Given that my insurance company have said that its not worth me claiming as with the excess and the loss of NCB then I'm going to replace the lot with Orange SPV M5000 and a BT GPS.

Just a right royal pain in the arse.

Hi,

You should be able to claim on your house insurance. If the value of the item is less than £1500, they will replace it. I have recently done this with a mobile phone. If it's your personal property and you clearly have to carry it around, then they should be covered on the house contents policy as you would normally kerep it in the house. Hope that helps

Having had my Smart car raided twice with the cost of two new windows,do wipe your windows and invest in a sucker disc so you can mount your device somewhere else on the vehicles dash.

I would always wipe my windows, I have some sucker pads that came with my gps but no flat surfaces on my car Sad (Its a grande punto with the curvy interior).

Was thinking about putting my garmin lock stickers on the windows but then thought it would attract more attention.
