Hello all,

I need your help which something that drives me crazy!!

I have TT2 2.24/2.08 and GlobalSat BT GPS receiver and everything works OK except one thing...Very often, when I drive, the Navigator gets confused and is giving me a bad indication of the direction towards I am driving to...

So for example I could be driving north on a straight line, but the Navigator get's confused and it thinks that I am trying to make a turn or something...So the blue arrow points on the left and then on the right and so on...even if I am driving on a straight line.

The whole thing gets even worse when my speed is quite low...and on navigitor mode the map keeps rotating left-right-left-right....It's really annoying.

The GPS signal gives me 4-6 Sats (greay colour) and I use NMEA 38400.

Has anyone seen this before? Please help.
Thanks in advance

Panos

Do you have SBAS/WAAS/EGNOS enabled ? If so, try turning this off.

Where would that be enabled? On the GPS receiver?
I am just using it with the default settings. Are those settings enabled by default?
Thanks

Yes, it will be on the GPS itself. You will need to use a program like SiRFDemo which will allow you to configure the GPS. It maybe that you do have SBAS enabled, or if you're only receiving 4 sats, then this will put your position off by up to 15 feet and could start jumping around a little compared to if you were receiving 7-9 sats.

Just checked and it's disabled, so it must be something else,
Any ideas?

4 -6 sats showing grey..... sounds like a weak reception as they should be red showing a fix. try positioning the gps reciever in a different position.

I live in central London and I have never seen a reception of more than 5 satelites. Is this normal?

Also I don't understand why Tomtom gets confused with the orientation? It displays the right road so that implies the signal is OK but when I stop on the red traffic light then it gets crazy and it thinks I am trying to make a turn even if there is no turn to take!

What do you guys think is the best way to position the BT GlobalSat device? Currently I am placing at the middle of windscreen.

Cheers,
Panos
