Greetings I am very new to GPS and have recently purchased a Globalsat bc 307 CF for my Toshiba e800 Pocket pc. the problem I am having is that when I insert the CF receiver it defaults to "COM:4 CF_CARD-GENERIC: and it receives all incoming data (sat) but when I try to run it with MS Streets and Trips it says " the communications (COM) port is available, but no signal is being received. Make sure the GPS receiver is turned on and connected to the correct port" when I try to configure it on the PPC it only offers COM3: or COM9: I have now downloaded Mapopolis and it says waiting for signal I am slowly pulling out my hair and need help can anyone assist me....

Thank you for your input

Hi,

Have you succesfully had a signal showing on the GPSinfo program that comes with the receiver? I am not familiar with your PPC but it sounds as though your receiver will use the generic driver through COM 4 and you should see it on GPSinfo. You may have to wait a while for this if the unit is new.

If you have used GPSinfo, then in order for the receiver to work with other software, you must make sure that you hit the 'Close GPS' button in GPSinfo, otherwise it will not let anything else connect.

Hopefully, another Tosh user will come along and help you further but I have seen other entries for this machine in these forums where owners have had difficulties (recently). A search may help.

Steve
