I've made some changes to the url so it should work from anywhere now.

Cbrom

Great program, but I'd like to ask if it can (or is there an easier way) do the folllowing???

I convert the files in .GPX extensions (eg set to 500ft) and then edit the .OLD files to replace the @??mph with -??mph and save as a .CSV extension. I then load both via POIloader set to manual. The .GPX files set to speed and the .CSV files set to distance (I set this to 2,500ft). This set up displays the camera irrespective of speed with a single "bong", but also displays the name of the camera (Gatso XXXX-30mph) rather than "Speed Alert 30mph) before the .GPX files give a final warning as I get within 500ft.

This means that I am loading two sets of camera files but I use this set up so I can report any inacuracies in the database. I'm aware I could simpl which I can then use to report any inaccuracies in the database. I use the record location function if there is an inaccuracy so I'm aware there are other ways to find out the camera names later - but just find this works for me.

Thanks

Thanks before I download - does this program enable you to set a different distance to a)keep the icon on screen irrespective of speed and b) a different distance before the speed alerts trigger?

Thanks

Hi All,

I've updated the GPX Converter to include the same functionality as ASH's program but with the added bonus of being able to enter a distance or time.

To enable this feature just change the 'Alert Type' to 'Always Shown'.

The new version number is v1.1.1

Download from http://gpx.cbrom.co.uk

First post Embarassed here goes, been lurking for awhile though, great forum, and a great little program you've knocked up there.

Question is, I understand how to change the distance, but is there anyway you can change the speed when they go off ? Sounds a daft question, but reason being is that when on a motorway doing 75, it will keep making a noise till you get to 70. As no-one gets nicked for doing 75, I'd like to set mine to go off at 75 and over as opposed to 70.
Does that make sense ?

Cheers for any help you can offer

Matt

Welcome. from other posters on this site, you can apparently get nicked for doing 71 only depending on where you got caught and by who. BE CAREFUL. Wink Wink

Great utilty, thanks cbrom.

A little note for any other newbies out there using this, POI loader took a few minutes to upload the new database, compared to other (larger) databases.

Just wait a while - don't cancel thinking there's an error like I did a few times Rolling Eyes

Thanks again :D

cbrom: just a quick query:

does the 'always shown' option also give you the speed warnings too?

Do you mean does it repeatedly bong when driving over the speed limit, or whether it shows the speed in the banner?

It does do the overspeed bong - repeatedly. And it shows -speed after the GATSO name (ie the @speed seems to be replaced with -speed in the banner).

I am new to this so please bear with me.
I purchased my first GPS last week. ( A Garmin StreetPilot c310 )
Downloaded the POI Loader, and downloaded the Speed Camera database from the Pocket GPSworld site. Everything went well.
Started to read this group and came across "cbrom's GPX converter".
It looks a great tool and I would like to "shorten" the warning distances on my database.
Can I use it with my StreetPilot?
I notice the files in my data base are .csv. but I assume that I will end up with .gpx files after using the converter.
Have I to change these back to .csv files ?
If so How ??

Many Thanks,
SammyM

it will work with any garmin unit that is compatable with garmin's poi loader software.

you don't need to convert back to csv as the extra data needed is in the gpx format and poiloader will work with gpx files.
