Version 1.0.3 out now!

Added a 'units' option to allow kph and meters as well as mph and feet.

Download from http://cbrom.myby.co.uk

Many thanks cbrom!
was trying to d/l this last night and was getting file not found, must have been the same time you were updating!!

now for my newbie question, i loaded the safety cameras on to my dads tomtom go in Jan so have this database.
In it are some files for Garmin about 4 csv and 4 picture files, this is different to tomtom as i have to load them separately for each speed limit! about 16 files in all.
Am i looking at the right files?

Also i've read that the speed cameras will not appear on my i3 unless i'm going fast enough is it possible to reduce the speeds so the cameras always show? not sure how accurate the i3 will be at calculating my speed.

your i3 will be more accurate than your speedo in the car.

if you change the speeds it kinda defeats the object of having a file with the speeds in it doesn't it?!

I used the gpx converter, revised the alert distances and loaded to my i3. Somehow this upset my i3 drivers, and I had to reinstall them from the supplied Garmin CD before they loaded. Incidentally, it took ages to load -wonder if that was my Zone Alarm.

Now looking in "Recent Finds, I can see the speedcam identities ( example 30-G-1277) there and I can see the icons on "show map". So they really are there.

However, driving along in "where to " or "view map" mode, no speedcam icons are showing on the screen and no prox alert tone sounds. Checked the prox alert is set to on. Any ideas wot's going on here?

It sounds like you may have corrupted the POI's on your device.

"30-G-1277" is not a speed camera i recognise - is this from a european speed camera?

If not then something has definately gone wrong somewhere. I suggest you perform a reset on your device and re-load the POI database and try again.

I can't see why zone alarm would cause a problem, but you could always turn it.

Many other users have had no problems whatsoever, so there is nothing wrong with the GPX files that are created with gpx converter.

I downloaded the speed camera database and ran them through the warning distance converter (available on an earlier topic). I then installed them on my Grmin 2720 and tested it. All worked fine but I get a warning on the screen which comes up with a speed, usually 31 or 34 mph. Why is this? The speed camera it warns of is usually a 50 mph one. Also it seems to warn me of a camera if there is a flyover crossing the motorway usually at Junction 5 of the M3 but also recently on the M1 from Leeds to London. Any help is greatly appreciated. I would have thought that it would only warn me if I was actually exceeding the speed that the camera was set up for, or is that too much to expect?

Sounds like you may have selected KPH instead of MPH on the POI Loader software from Garmin.

Check you have it set on MPH.

Hi All,

I've done some major updates to the POI converter software...

Version 1.1.0

    Major front-end changes!
Added a time-to-distance conversion so users can enter their alerts as time at that speed and the distance will be calculated automatically
Replace dropdown and text box with a grid
Added the facility to enter different distances or times for different types of POI
Added the ability to save as the default distances or times
Added an Alert Type option so either Standard or Always can be selected. Standard is as before, but Always will always show the camera on the map, with no over-speed warnings given. With this option the speed is displayed in the banner when approaching a POI.
Changed the end report to a Status window

You can download it from http://gpx.cbrom.co.uk

cbrom, many thanks for your effort. Sounds really ideal now. The only thing is that the link to the website is not working. I don't know whether it is probably my PC or FireFox.

Both links on my bookmarks now. What an example of someone putting in the effort to help others for free and responding to their feedback so efficiently. Fantastic job to be congratulated for.
