Hi I'm planning a 520mile (four day) race through France this summer. A good Sav-Nav system will be essential to allow effortless navigation down smallish lanes. What system would anyone recommend, needs good battery life, and good rural detail. (I have a TomTom PDA set up in the car which I like) Marcus Eales.

I use Carto Exploreur 3 from Bayo (www.bayo.com) which I find excellent. I purchased the 1:25,000 maps on CD from 'Navigator Maps' in Belper (01773 822447). These are used with an iPAQ 2210 and TomTom Bluetooth GPS Rx. The footpaths in our part of the Aude are badly marked and the GPS has saved our bacon a few times!
