|

I am new to this forum. It looks excellent and is exactly the type of user info / discussion that I was looking for.
I recently upgraded my software to TT Nav5. Now, every time that I use the PDA (Palm-T5) for navigation my PDA goes into auto-off mode after 3 minutes(as set in my power preferences on the PDA). It did not do this when I was running my previous version of TT. I cannot see how I can adjust this to recognise that the program is still in use. Any advice would be much appreciated. |

|

I found the following message on another site. It appears that I am not the only one with this problem. I will make inquiries with TT.
-------------
I am running TomTom Navigator 5 (Bluetooth) on my Palm Tungsten T5.
The Palm automatically turns itself off after 3 minutes, which is the longest allowable Auto-off setting in the Palm Preferences application.
This means I can only use Navigator 5 for journeys of less than 3 minutes(!).
How can I overcome this problem?

I have the same problem which I didn't have with TomTom 2004 (essentially version 3 for the palm T5). The only solution for vehicle drivers is to get a 12V power adapter for your T5 and have it running on that. It appears to be a programming oversight by TomTom. |

I'm assuming you have a Palm with access to Grafitti strokes (no Treo 650 in other words).
It turns off because Navigator does not override the auto-power off feature on all Palm devices, which has a maximum interval of 3 minutes.
To shut down that function:
- Tap on Memo
- Tap on New
- Draw the Palm shortcut
- then immediately after the Palm shortcut put in a: .3
So: Shortcut.3
The inputted string will turn into : [No Auto-Off]
- Tap on Done.
Problem solved.
On a Treo 650, same thing except:
in Memos, type in S, then press Alt. A little screen will pop up. Choose the bottom-most character (looks like a loopy L), then .3
Same effect.
Hope that helps. |
