I have an iPAQ 4700 with the original application oc a FAST CF Card. I have installed updates to main memory.
Questions. The application has always taken about 30 seconds to load. Is this normal?

As I have seen no increase in speed by installing updates to RAM can I install to CF card to overwrite the original app?

Any other pointers along these lines would be much appreciated.

I have my app installed in the File Store and it does take about 20 secs. The maps are stored on the SD card. I have no problems with this at all as it saves the GPS being "soft rest" by TomTom as it gives it time to get a fix. (No fix in 30 seconds sends a reset from the app to the GPS - no idea why). I also have a 1/2 Mg CF card running IdriveNavigator 3D, which also runs with no problems.

I'll ask a dumb question - what else do you have runnng at that time?

Whether I have Pocket Informant, calc etc or nothing else running it seems to make no difference to load speed. I think I will un-install the upgrades and put it in filestore and save my precious RAM.

I'm running tomtom 5.1 (OK, 5.21, but I only did the upgrade this morning!) on my 4700 off a cheap Viking 512Mb SD card - coppied the files from the TomTom SD card supplied and just let it do the default install.

TTN takes about 15-20 seconds to start up and then runs smoothly when I'm travelling. I did think about whether to get a faster card, or to set it up in a different way, but I figure the advantages would be pretty minimal
