Newbie Question

Guys,

Having read these forums a bit im a bit confused about CheckPoint. I have TT5 running on an Ipaq 3970 and i just want a stable way to be alerted to speed cameras. I am aware of the many versions of Checkpoint, but a lot seem to cause issues. I am also aware that TT5 seems to support direct POI's, but again this is all a little confusing to me

Can someone point me toward the best course of action so i can learn how to install stable speed camera alerts to my PDA?

If you've upgraded TT5 to 5.1, you probably won't have any problems with the latest CheckPOInt (other than a flickering distance-to-camera display bar).

Basically, you just have to download it, unzip it, and run the setup program while your PDA is hooked up. You also need the speed camera database installed (the .ov2 and .bmp files placed in TT's maps directory on your storage card).

Then you run CheckPOInt and tell it what to do with each POI file: whether to detect POI's from that file at all, and if so, which warnings to sound (you have up to three: first warning, a speed-dependent second warning for approaching too fast, and a final warning) and which sound file to use for each.
