Hello, I have been considering Memory Map for a while now (since about five minutes after buying my Navman PIN 300!)

I have tried the demo and liked it.

I wish to walk, cycle and off-road motorcycle with it.

Can anyone give me the final push that I need to spend all the money that my wife wants to spend on shoes on Memory Map?

Is anybody using MM and PIN 300? What's it like?

I have a 1 Gb SD card - how much of the UK can you fit on this?

Is Anquet or Fugawi better?

Will I be fed up in a months time because MM 2006 is going to be released?

Do the current maps show the "right to roam" information?

Sorry for the long list of questions, but I want to make an informed decsion.

Thanks in advance

Rob

Each region is about 400-600MB, so you could fit 1 and a bit regions. However, a region is rather a large area. You can choose to download whatever bits of whatever maps you want. Download just the bits you need.

That depends which piece of string you choose to use to measure "better". Wink

They all have advantages and disadvantages. There are demos of Anquet and Fugawi. Fugawi is considerably cheaper if that's the main criterion, and I think its 3D mode is better. Off hand I can't remember why I chose MM, probably to do with feautures on the PDA, but now MM supports VGA and screen rotation the display is superb.

Not at present. This is the MM info:

You will probably be quite fed up if you buy the maps now and really want RtR info.

Hi,

I am a relative newcomer to MM and have been using it for the last month or so.

I use it on my mountainbike and it is a pretty good navigation tool. I have my MDA Compact mounted on the stem in a Boxit waterproof case.

I've not got lost yet so it does the job. Never used either of the other programs so can't give you any comparisons. The 3D mode on the PC is pretty cool and the track info is handy too.

I keep the south east of Scotland 1:50,000 on my 1gb card (about 330mb) most of the time. If I am going elsewhere I will download the portion of the relevant map (1:25,000 or 1:50,000) depending on where it is.

I also have TOM TOM 5 installed so only really need the off road portions on MM.

Regards

Sizes of os50 regions are 219 (smallest)-385(largest) MB

How do you rotate the screen in MM. Can do it with TTN5 but nothing else. Is this to do with the VGA mode of the PPC rather that a MM feature. Downloaded the latest version of MM2004 yasterday.
