Hi

I have an ipaq 3970 and have just purchased a new BT338 receiver. I am running ROM 4.00 and despite many many attempts to run Bluetooth manager to pick-up the details of my new BT338 it does not find it a=on any occasion.

Can anyone help.

Regards

Rob

What's your current status

Have you enabled Bluetooth?
Is the blue LED blinking?
Can you run Bluetooth Manager?
Can you add a new device?
Does BTM find the BT_GPS ?

At which step are you stuck?

Lutz

Thanks for looking at this.

Have blue lights on both ipaq and receiver.

BTM is on and picks up other mobile phones etc when in the area but it is not picking up the receiver - except once last night as I was about to close everything down and give up i noticed it appeared in the list in the BT Browser and got a connection and working with TT3.

Turned on again this morning and not a trace of the reciever again - have been testing on an off all day and its still not picking up - but still picks up my colleagues mobiles etc.

Any thoughts

In TT3 I had it set to Bluetooth SiRF on Com 5 - would that we bthe right setting for when I finally get a connection?

Regards

No, that's wrong. You need to set it to "Standard NMEA 38400" and port COM 5

Thanks Lutz

Done that bu when it goes off into BT browser to find the relevant BT device the browser still does not pick up the receiver.

Could I have a receiver with a dodgy BT signal?

That may be the case - would be good if you could try it with another receiver. Have you asked the vendor for a replacement yet?

Ask the vendor for a replacement and they just gave me a telephone umber to ring to have someone guide me through set up with TomTom.

However just to check I did a compelete re-install of my system right back to re-installing the ROM (v4) and then only loaded the software that came with the receiver - nothing else.

Once again my PDA BT Browser picked up my mobile phone within second but not sign of the receiver - I am assuming the BT browser should still be able to pick up the prescenec of the BT receiver without having any GPS navigation software installed?

This to me really does indicate it is a faulty BT signal from the receiver - would you agree - unfortuantly not been able to find anyone else with a BT PDA or another receiver to see I they can pick up the BT338 or I can pick up their receiver.
