After many, many hours of hard work I've released an alpha version of my latest programming project, a PocketPC 2003 program to read output from a GPS receiver and plot your position on an "OS map".
Here's the homepage:
http://www.craporola.com/GPSMap.html
Important note to non-UK viewers: This version only supports plotting on maps using the British National Grid (OSGB) projection. Support for other grids/projections may be incorporated in the future.
I need your feedback - whether positive or negative, particularly if you get this program to work with your hardware. I've only been able to test this with my own kit (Ipaq 2210 and TomTom Bluetooth GPS receiver).
Enjoy!
dr. matt
PS. Don't ask me for maps. I'm sure you're resourceful enough to make your own

Just a quick update to say that provisional Pocket PC 2002 versions of GPSMap-OS and OSGridConv are now available from http://www.callnetuk.com/home/shanks/GPSMap.html and http://www.callnetuk.com/home/shanks/OSGridConv.html. I really need people to test these applications more fully on PPC 2002 as I don't have access to a real device, so if you can send me any feedback of success or otherwise I will be very interested to hear it!
Oh, and here's a screenshot of GPSMap-OS in action:

The 2002, dynamic MFC build worked for using iPaq 3850 with Navman SE sleeve (Port 5, 56700 baud). Made up a .png map of my locality by doing a screen grab of MemoryMap and, after callibration, the GPS location was pretty close. Just need to figure out a way of getting a .png format map for a larger area |
