I dont believe it, I had traffic working perfectly on my GO300 paired with Samsung D500. I then changed my SD card to a larger size and despite everything working as before my GPRS settings don't and I can't remember exactly the settings I put in before, so can someone please look over these setting for connection to btmobile. The APN and IP address are in my phone profile so I know they are right. Its the script and dial string I am unsure of.

APN: btmobile.bt.com
IP address: 212.183.137.12
script: +CGDCONT=3,"IP","btmobile.bt.com"
dial: *99***3#
(my profile on phone is in position 3, do I need the last 2 lines both indicating CID3?)

I'm 90% sure these settings worked before but now they refuse to, and yes GPRS is working on my phone exactly as before.
Thanks for any help, I am going mad.

Ian

I have put this question to TomTom after spending ages on the phone and they have no idea at all about settings for connection to btmobile. In fact no idea at all about manual setup of Internet connection in the TomTom software. Can you believe this! Also they did not know if the TomToms internet setup is stored on the SD card or not.

Called BT who are about as much help as a chocolate teapot. The nice lady who answered phone didnt have a clue what I was talking about and refused to put me through to second line support.
ps I can see the Tomtom test logo when connecting to tst.tt1.nl on my phone.

To be fair, it is the telephone service operator who should be answering these questions not TomTom. If BT can't help with the necessary settings for their own network then why would you be surprised that TomTom didn't have the answer?

Darren, you may be right and I will try to pursue this further with BT. I am sure I will get it working eventually. I still think it is poor though where a manufacturer sells a product of which a major feature is traffic updates via bluetooth and can offer absolutely no advice at all!

If I was not computer literate at all (which I am sure that because of recent TV advertising many people who buy this product will not be) then I would have no idea of even what questions to ask at all and I would never get traffic info on my TomTom. I would be totaly disillusioned and never buy a TomTom product again (excellent though it may be)

Regards
Ian

I do sympathise, configuring GPRS Settings and APN's manually can be a royal PITA, it really is a minefield though as the correct settings can be dependent on both the provider and the actual handset being used.

http://www.filesaveas.com/ is a useful resource as it has all the relevant settings for each provider.

You say you're with BTMobile? Do you mean O2 as the settings could be wrong there, it's also important to be sure you have GPRS Internet rather than GPRS WAP although you do say its worked in the past so this may be a red herring?

BTmobile are using the Vodafone network. Some BT customers are still on T-Mobile but eventually BT will migrate them all to Vodafone. Of course all GPRS setting in my mobile have no resemblance to Vodafone settings.

I am suprised that nobody else on this forum is using BTMobile.

Is it any surprise that there is so much confusion! BT start CellNet, CellNet re-brands to 02 and now BT uses Vodafone!!

I've finally got traffic working again. I spent about 2 hours trying to reproduce my original settings but failed. I dont know why I didnt think of it earlier but I restored complete contents of origial sd card to my new one and the internet connection worked!

So now I have a working internet connectin but not a clue what the settings are. I must have been really lucky the first time.

So now another question, how do I recover the original settings? They must be stored in one of the files on the card, but where? You cannot view them in the setup process via the menu options.

Happy but slightly annoyed.

Ian

ps. weather is not updating?
