Holux will be releasing a new Bluetooth GPS Receiver very shortly. First batches should start shipping in mid-July. Pricing currently is unconfirmed.







The new Holux Bluetooth Receiver will be the GR-210. It is built on the SiRF Star II chipset with embedded AMR7TDMI CPU available for customised applications in firmware. It also has the following features:-
  • 12 parallel satellite-tracking channels for fast acquisition and re-acquisition
  • High speed signal acquisition using 1920 time/frequency search channels.
  • Built-in hardware Tracking Loop Processor WAAS/EGNOS demodulator
  • Compatible with Bluetooth devices with Serial Port Profile (SPP)
  • Low power consumption - Supports Trickle Power mode Power Saving in rechargeable battery for memory and RTC backup and for fast Time to First Fix (TTFF)
  • Support NMEA0183 v2.2 data protocol
  • Small, sleek, and lightweight design easily fits in your hand
  • algorithms provide superior navigation performance in urban, canyon and foliage environments
  • For Car Navigation, Marine Navigation, Fleet Management, AVL and Location-Based Services, Auto Pilot, Personal Navigation or touring devices, Tracking devices/systems and Mapping devices application
Battery usage quoted by Holux is around 6 hours use, it supports NMEA v2.2 and SBAS (EGNOS/WAAS) and contains a built-in patch antenna.



Manufacturer TTFF times are as follows:-

Cold (45 secs), Warm (38 secs), Hot (8 secs), Reacquisition (0.1 sec).

A little, they were hoping for first units to start rolling out of the factory in July, but supply would be tight until production goes into full run in September, I'm awaiting delivery of one myself for review.
