I thought it was all very nice not being told to 'Keep Right' when trundling down the motorway - except with NavMan removing this, they've created a HUGH problem!

Travelling down the M42, the motorway splits in two directions (M42 Southbound, and M40 Southbound) - wanting to Stay on the M42, you have to be in the right hand lanes - no keep right prompts any more!

THEN

Travelling south of birmingham, on the west bound carrage way of the M42 - the motorway splits again (M5 North, and M5 South) - I'm wanting to go M5 South, again have to keep to the right hand lanes to go south - and no prompts or anything from SmartST!!!

It took my entire journey from Solihull on the M42 to Worcester off the M5 as one road, no mention of changing motorways, junctions or anything!

This really isn't Navigation - imagine if all you were doin was watching the safety view screen - all it says is Exit Left in 26 miles, when you've got two HUGH motorway links to take!

Simon,

I think a little common sense needs to be applied, although I partly agree with what you're saying. There are still a few places where the keep left/keep right instructions still appear (M25/M26 split) and at least one where it never has (M25/A21 split). However, imagine if all you were doing was watching the safety view screen - don't you think you'd crash pretty rapidly? Use your GPS in conjunction with the existing roadsigns, not as the be all and end all.

I agree, I never just follow SmartST. But when your travelling on different motorways, its expected for it to at least indicate that your going to change to a different road or going to travel on a different road.

I do this route regularly, and SmartST would always tell you to keep right at the right places. Now it doesn't even tell you to change to a different motorway (at the above mentioned junctions).

It regards it all completely as the same road, which it isn't - if someone who isn't very good with their sense of direction, would get completly stumped at these junctions - which I'm sure is why some people use Navigation Systems?
