Which Handheld GPS unit?

Newbie question for you guys.
I have a Ipaq 2210 and want to set up a sat nav system for the car, also I am looking to get a handheld GPS unit for use out mountain biking.

Can I get a GPS unit that will be good for both things? Looking at the reviews I am a bit concerned that connecting the Magellan GPS to my PDA will be a pain. A friend uses Tom Tom which looks good, I have just changed my car the last being a BMW with BMW Sat Nav, which was quite frankly poor.

Or should I buy a GPS unit for the car and one for the bike????
