How does this GPS unit work? Does it have a rechargable battery? Basically, I'm wondering whether it's possible to leave it hidden from site (with maybe just a GPS external antenna) on show (say in the glovebox) to save having to turn it on and off, like I have to with my current GPS.

Thanks

The GPS needs to be permanently powered from the accessory power socket just like all other GPS Mouse Receivers. The same goes even when you have the Bluetooth module connected. in theory you could leave it physically switched on all the time providing you can hardwire the power so it doesn't go off when you turn the ignition off.

What's the problem with simply having the GPS powered via a switched ignition socket?? Obviously after a while the GPS will run out of battery and turn itself off, but I believe the GPS has a physical On/Off slider, so once power is restored won't the GPS simply turn back on without further user involvement?
