It's always the same isn't it, the more you research the more confusing it gets. I started out thinking the TTGo was what I wanted, in searching the www I became aware of the iCN510, and of course they are both now coming down in price and the balance was tipping towards the iCN510. Now the PIN300 has arrived on the scene, which I understand has the same software as the iCN510. So how to choose bewtween them?

My present 'gear' is a Haicom204S driving infoMap Navigator software in a laptop. Clearly this is not the most convenient package, hence I want to go smaller. One feature I like about my present gear is that I can plan routes 'off-line' either at home of in the office, will I be able to do this with 510 or 300 i.e. work on the laptop and transfer to the portable device? Navigator also works on full postcodes which has been very useful, I gather I will loose this feature.

I have used haicom/Navigator for 7-8 months now and it has performed faultlessly, reading reviews and comments on thse forums suggest that whatever I buy I might not get the same level of reliabilty.

Any comments/advice most welcome.

Thanks

One thing is for sure - you cannot plan and save routes on the GO...

As for the other devices - those are basically Pocket PCs with integrated GPS antenna. Endless possibilities - use any program you want.

Have a look at the Mitac Mio 168 - portrait screen. May be better for driving unless you drive sideways all the time.

There is no external route planning on either iCN510 or PiN300, either. PiN300 is a Mitac Mio with SmartST V3 software, so runs in 'portrait' mode and is a Pocket PC. iCN510 runs in 'landscape' mode and has no function other than as a GPS unit.

I personally would go for the PiN300 and then change the software to your liking - CoPilot has excellent route planning features, for example.
