I have a new road angel, an iPaq 3870, TomTom navigator 3 software, the memory card, and the holux cable to connect it all up.

I have installed the software on the iPaq, and it runs ok, but I cannot get it to pick up the Road angel as the GPS device.

In the road angel, the GPS output is ON, and on the TomTom GPS settings on the iPaq, the device is set to NMEA 0183v2 (with the corresponding baud rates set on both).

TomTom will just not pick up the road angel and so the whole thing just does not work!

Could someone please help me with this, I;d be very greatful of any advice you can offer!

Thanks

Do you have the "NEW" Road Angel, or is it the old one but just "NEW" to you ?

AFAIK the NEW Road Angel doesn't have a port that will support this, but I may be wrong.

Setting TomTom Navigator to NMEA 0183v2 4800 COM1 will work. You may have to uninstall TomTom ~ GPS though to get it to work. You won't see any sat signal status, but when you goto the map / navigator screen you will be able to see that you have a fix by the sat number and that you can plot a destination and it will start to navigate you.

Hi. Yes it's a New model, and as such the Holux cable is different (it's a PS2 port instead of serial). I have tried the NMEA 0183v2 4800 COM1 setup to no avail, so I will now try and uninstall the TomTom ~ GPS like you suggested.
I;ll let you know how I get on.
Thanks for your help.

I have tried uninstalling TomTom ~ GPS, but now TomTom Navigator just does not run. I have reinstalled the GPS section, but the origonal problem is still there.
Have you any other ideas?

Just double check the "Mapping baud speed" is set to 4800 on the Road Angel - that should do the trick.
