Is there a way that I can disable the connections, when I am NOT running my GPS application to keep the annoying "unable to connect" screen from coming up all the time, wanting me to set up a modem?

I have a TDS recon, with a transplant Cf GPS card, when I am not running the gps application (memory map) I have the settings for no gps, no card port, when running it is NMEA, card found on com 2, as to save battery life & resources, as it is not needed.

I don't want to draw down power by running a card that I'm not using the application in. I don't like the pop up error coming up in other applications, as it is annoying, and possibly takes up resources to check to see if anything is installed in the cf slots.

I don't want to take out the gps card, as it is in a extended cap, held in place with screws, and a metal clip

there are no drivers with the cf gps, windows mobile 2003 wants to set up everything as a com port, whether it needs to be or not.
the manufacturer of the pocket pc, tells me to get a driver from the gps maker, the gps maker tells me it is a issue with the way windows mobile sees the card.

any suggestions other than either
1) deal with the pop up screens
2) pull out the gps card when not in use
the idea of this was to be able to put the gps card in a sealed waterproof rugged pocket pc for outdoor use...

thanks,
Charles

I made some changes to active synch, hopefully it will solve itself.
