Hi, does anyone else get interference on their FM radio stations when using the NavMan iCN 630? Or has anyone got any solutions for it, sheilding the unit in some way etc...

Hi there

I've been using iCN 630's since May '03 and have never expereienced any radio interference. I've just phoned my son in law who also has one and he's not had any problems either and he use his in various vehicles.

My unit is mounted on the windscreen just above my radio. What sort of interference are you getting Question Could your problem be due to a fault in the car radio.

Regards

alfieB Thumbs Up

Hi, thanks for reply,

Its a white noise sound that varies in intensity continuously when the Navman unit is on. The car is new and radio works fine without the navman on.
I mount the Navman on the screen using the suction pad bracket. It's just above the radio in the dash, and the cars aerial is mounted on the roof just above the rear view mirror, so the Navman is quite close to both radio and it's aerial. Maybe that has some influence on the problem, but it's not going to be easy to move them anywhere else.

I haven't heard of any issues with Radio Interference, but any product could emit an RI field. It could be more down to either a faulty unit, a the power cable, or a badly insulated radio cable rather than the iCN630.

OK thanks, I'll have a fiddle about with some sheilding to see if I can solve the problem.

Actually, interestingly enough I've been having some problems with my Road Angel that has just gone over the annual subscription and needs to be registered. It's been having some problems gaining a fix lately, and rather intermittent at that, thought it might be something to do with if you don't re-register and pay some dosh, but it wasn't that.

I've had it positioned in the center of the windscreen and had an iCN630 positioned an inch to the left and TomTom GO positioned an inch to the right, and finally worked out what the problem was today. Nope, not the iCN630, but TomTom GO! I do have a pre-production model, so it maybe not shielded correctly, but as soon as I turned off GO, within 5 seconds the signal came back on the Road Angel.

Strange huh ? Moved it another inch to the right and it's been fine all day! Confused
