Strange.

Needs more investigation. My next steps would be to watch the phone at known problem cameras to see if you get the popup notification but no sound.

I run mine in bluetooth handsfree mode and with the speedo displayed so the top notification is very clear. In background mode it may be difficult to check.

Had good use of the app over the past week when on hols in Scotland.

The issues spotted are

Volume too low over BT, even if set toax on phone and car.
Misses of the distance (is ft, yds but will randomly say miles).
After passing a camera it always says 0 miles, is this supposed to say your average/normal speed was 60 miles or 58 miles

Other than that worked without issues and in areas with internet connection.

If you're BT volume is like mine then the trick was to 'stand by' with finger over steering wheel volume button and when a BT announcement is made I can increase/decrease the BT volume separately from the normal audio volume.

seems to be if my phone is on vibrate I get a visual pop-up but no beep or alert! turned my phone on to ring and I could suddenly hear the alerts so I don't know which setting is wrong.
I have changed output to multi media so hopefully I'll hear it over Bluetooth or phone speaker . it was on notifications!
I'll see later on .

yes, but even then i have to set to nearly full on my car to be able to hear it and even then it still quieter than the normal radio or music i listen to

plus it's only this app having the problem, tomtom is loud and clear, so is google maps, music, calls

In STA .....

Settings, Audio Settings, presumably all on 100%

Also, if you have a Samsung phone change the TTS from Samsung to Google.

There is a post here somewhere by Leo advising against Samsung TTS.

on a Google pixel.
changed audio output to multimedia and I got both pop-ups and alerts whenever the screen is on or off off.
I'll try it tomorrow with the radio turned off on Bluetooth and see if it comes out the phone speaker but I'm much happier.

Just been on a (rare these days) trip out and the voice had changed to (still female) a distinctly American accent.
Had to go into the phone speech synthesis settings to change it but I hadn't done anything so it must have been an update of something.

As my previous post, check which TTS you are using.

I'm using Google on my Samsung which I find better than the default Samsung.

Your phone may have its own default.

still not perfect on the S20 FE 5G after switching to Google TTS

Still just saying in 790 or 200 without yds, ft, miles mentioned
Some cameras it says do not accelerate
Doesn't always say something after a camera and just cuts out audio
Still not as loud as other apps over BT (using notification channel when on dab/fm radio)

In my settings for the first camera in the list, as an example, I've got :

"Fixed Speed Camera"

First warning ~15s(1/4 mi at 60 mph)

Variable distance ticked

Voice alert "Name and speed limit"

Speed excess warning 1/8 mi

Voice ticked

Regarding volume, I had exactly the same and I found that when the voice is speaking I can increase/decrease the volume (Honda Civic) separately from the audio volume.

What I did initially was to play a music track over the BT connection via the car system and increase/decrease the volume as required.

In a nutshell ..... when BT is playing, the car volume knob affects that. When the BT message stops (pseudo phone call) the car volume knob adjusts whatever is playing on the car unit.

try adding distance to the output and see if it tells you how far, sometimes it has the tendency to say in 0.29 miles, but can't say 290 yds or 290 ft.

and do you ever hear it announcing the speed correctly afterwards?
