I'm on Basecamp 4.7.2 and it gives me very bizarre routing.

On another note has anybody noticed the lack of speed camera updates the last week or two off Garmin Express? Normally there's one every day or so on the Drivesmart 55 when I check but nothing at all for the last couple of weeks?
An update has popped up today, first one for a while. Updated the whole Europe set with files dated 9th & 10th Sept.

That is true.
(I'm also on Basecamp 4.7.2).

Keswick (on A66) to York goes via a detour up and down the M6 (on the 2021.1 and also on the 2020.3 maps) (1hr 55min, 119 mi).
Keswick (town centre) to York takes a bizarre detour on B5288 via Greystoke (on both maps)(2hr 2min, 115 mi).

Both are disappointing Basecamp results, given that I simply want to follow the A66.

(Incidentally I always approach both of these Penrith roundabouts in the Outside lane, as the A66 eastbound is third exit at each).

I think BaseCamp generally routes correctly but there are the odd instances where it doesn't , and it's always been like that. Like most I guess I plot my routes in BaseCamp, check they go where I want, send them to my device, view them on the device once loaded and then again in BaseCamp so I can check they are showing properly on the device.

If for some reason there are discrepancies I try to work out why, and if there is an issue report it to Garmin. In many years I can probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of map errors I've found. I recall one particular one in France where a dual carriageway had been built and a road crossing it had been blocked off, which I discovered as I was driving along it Very Happy

If you reread my original post on page 1, Basecamp recalculated all my previous overseas routes to take me around the countryside before arriving at the Tunnel. Some of these routes I have been using for some years without any problem.

That's strange because none of my French routes have done that and I've been using them for many years. Mind you I've stuck with 4.6.2.

Just tried the Heathfield to tunnel route and it routes as I'd expect via Ashford, maybe later BaseCamp versions are the issue?

If anyone wants to revert earlier versions are here https://www.gpsrchive.com/BaseCamp/index.htm

Wow, those are old devices. Why buy something that old?

I had an i3 for many years and (regrettably) sold it to upgrade to modern (so-called) better satnavs (two of them), which apart from the touchscreen. I disliked the menus, the look of the map, tons of features that Id never use or have an interest in and where things are located (especially the "detour" option that should be located in a place that is in your face not tucked away), then include poor battery life etc. I could go on but I'd come across as ranting.

I purchased an old i2 from Ebay for peanuts and just like the i3. It is a great basic product, small, compact, straight to the point and the batteries last many hours.....I'm bidding on an i3 Very Happy

Yes, I'm on the latest Basecamp 4.7.2 and I get the same crazy routing as AK for Heathfield - Saumur on both the 2021 and 2020 maps.
It is sounding like a glitch in Basecamp updated version.

...But then I get the same crazy route in Mapsource, on both the 2020 and 2021 maps. Yet Mapsource has had no updates.

Scratch head...

I've just tried the same route in MapSource and while it doesn't follow the same route as BaseCamp it doesn't produce anything crazy. Is everyone using the full EU map or a subset of it? Perhaps that is the issue?

Edit: Just checked using the Western Europe map, that works fine for me too.

I'm on Mapsource 6.16.3 using full City Navigator Europe NTU maps for 2021 and 2020.3.

Heathfield to Saumur goes all round the motorways, but Heathfield to Gournay-en-Bray (or to Abbeville) go directly via Ashford.

Heathfield to Bergerac goes a different way around the motorways.

Perhaps Mapsource's brain is too small for longer journeys.

They both used to work for much longer journeys so maybe it something in the maps.

Yet mine are working ok using the same maps. Have those of you with routing issues changed the default routing options in the car activity profile, or are you perhaps not using the car profile?

No, the routing profile (car) hasn't been touched. It was the first thing I checked.

I uninstalled Basecamp 4.7.2 and deleted everything (after making a backup!). I downloaded 4.6.2 which worked fine. I installed it and created a new waypoint in Angers. Created a route from Heathfield to Angers and....it went via the M23 etc. It must be something in the maps.
