Hi all, see this today had to share it, unfortunately I didnt get a photo I would have stopped my van and I might have got arrested.

Drove past a Paris-Dakar style motor bike on a grass verge, there was a bloke in a hi-viz coat putting up a tripod. I did a quick call then returned passed the scene, there was a mobile camera set up, the hi-viz had Derbyshire Police on the back the motorbike was unmarked, anyone else see this?

It was in Chesterfield

I do wonder about these bike mobiles.

Two points :-
First, police mobile handheld operators have to be trained AND they are listed by individual’s badge number on the police website.
Second, on my local one and on one I got close to in London, the high viz jacket said on the back Police Staff. That makes me wonder if the operators were police officers, or civilians and if they were enforcing or merely sending out letters.

Unfortunately I hadn’t learned about the badge number thing before I came across the two above, so I didn’t pay attention to whether or not they had badges/numbers

There is also a third point. A Kojak with a Kodak can set up just wherever he wants to.

Personally, I think there are two sorts of bike camera people. One is real and gets you a nice fine etc. The other is a fake, put there to frighten you for next time you drive there.
