I have a few questions having just moved after years with TomTom devices, last one GO 5000, now to a Garmin DriveSmart 55 MT-D 5.5.
I have installed the camera POI’s as directed and the voice warnings work fine but no bmp symbol appears (even when over speed).
Also when viewing in “Where To” categories, custom POI’s and then a camera, there is just a black flag against the camera type and location.
When the map is viewed in BaseCamp V 4.7.1 with the device connected, the camera symbols are there.
I have looked through the FAQ’s but cant see anything that matches the problem.
Any suggestions?

When creating he .GPI file from within POILoader the relevant icons (.BMP) need to be in the same folder as the .CSV files:

Here's a guide I produced earlier:

https://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=97158

or, consider the more featured CSV Converter:

Thanks for that.
The BMP files are in the same folder as the CSV's, but i will give the other convertor a try.

Just tried it with similar results.
What I have found is that if you zoom in to the max, click search then select the black flag from the drop down, a small blue box appears at the camera site and when you touch the point, a minuscule camera symbol appears.
I have some screen shots if you want.
Also in the Category view custom POIs there is still the black flag against the entries.

Are you also running Cyclops ?

If so then Cyclops is placing their BMP before yours, stealing the focus.

Answer, remove the Cyclops *.GPI files from the device POI directory.

I always say cut and paste them to your PC so you can, if required copy them back.

Note: If you're not bothered about Cyclops then use POILoader to remove all existing before reloading the PGPSW ones.

Option 2 should do it, unless Cyclops aren't considered 'Custom'

Hi
All entries from the devices POI directory now cut and pasted to the PC.
Database reinstalled and now to only entry.
Still black flags against entries in Categories and still minuscule symbol on route?

Very strange.

Presumably you've checked that your folder with the csv and bmp files contains nothing else, including no sub folders ?

If so then rerun POIloader and create a new GPI file taking care that POILoader is pointing to the correct PC folder and not another one that still contains rogue data.

If you've got my Converter installed then one of the options from one of the top menus is to check for any rogue entries in other folders.

Presumably, when you double click one of the bmp files it opens OK and displays correctly on the PC ?

Its as though the BMP is the wrong size or is being read incorrectly.
Other icons appear correctly and stay about the same when zoomed in or out, but these are just very small and stay that way!

What are the Dimensions of your .bmp files?
Mine are 24 x 24.

(Your unit might be particular about the sizes of icon it will accept, perhaps).

Some progress.
I have renamed some X2 bmp's from another database, replaced the files and re created a zip file and used this.
the icons are now displayed larger, will carry on investigating.
The current size for the X2 bmp's are 44 x 44 pixels

I use 44's on my DS61

If you've downloaded my Converter there are compatible 22, 24 and 44 in the package along with the compatible .wav files should you want spoken warnings.

Ive now settled on 70 x 70 pixels and will review over the next couple of days.
Is it just my new device that is showing this problem?
Regards.

If you follow my spoon feed thread mentioned earlier then you shouldn't have any issues.

Once you've cracked it once then it's just a matter of updating the .csv's weekly.

I wasn't aware anything above 44x44 worked on Garmins

Final update
I have now resized the bmp's to 88 x 88 and that has been tested and works fine on my device.
Under categories, the cameras still appear with a black flag but that's not a problem, as they display correctly on the map.
Regards.
