NAVTEQ Offers First Navigable Map of Hungary

NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital map data for navigation systems and location-based solutions, has introduced the first navigable map of Hungary. NAVTEQ already offers maps of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and also Greece to its customers for integration into their solutions. The company will continue to add maps of additional Eastern European countries and the launch of the Hungarian map is another step forward towards plans to offer a comprehensive navigable map of Eastern Europe.

The NAVTEQ map of Hungary provides detailed road network coverage for greater Budapest ? the country?s largest urban centre - including the city proper and the suburban municipalities of Budakalász, Budakeszi Budaörs, Csömör, Diósd, Dunaharaszti, Dunakeszi, Ecser, Érd, Fót, Gyál, Halásztelek, Kerepes, Kistarcsa, Nagykovácsi, Pécel, Pilisborosjen?, Solymár, Szigethalom, Szigetszentmiklós, Törökbálint and Üröm.

It also provides over 12,000 kilometres of nationwide intertown coverage, allowing for routing to and from all major urban areas of Hungrary and to and from the road networks of the surrounding countries of Austria, Slovakia and Slovenia. The map offers more than 1,100 Points of Interest including restaurants, hotels, museums and close to 500 petrol stations.

"Budapest and the surrounding areas are a burgeoning centre of commerce and tourism, and we?re proud to be able to support innovation in these industries by offering a digital map. Now ? for the first time and to the benefit of our customers and end users - the creation of navigable solutions for this area is possible," commented John MacLeod, Executive Vice President ? Global Marketing & Strategy for NAVTEQ.

I wonder if anyone told NaviGate. They have had a navigable map of Hungary for use with compatible Garmin devices for ages!

Interesting! You'd also think that Navi-gate would be singing from the roof tops being the first.

I'll pass this onto NAVTEQ! :D

What a strange press release... Destinator had a navigable hungarian map for at least a year now... http://www.destinator.hu/

I thought their data source was NAVTEQ ? Or maybe they used NaviGate maps, too.

Well I don't read Hungarian but I followed your link Lutz and in the bottom right-hand corner it does have Navi-Gate's address.
