The French Government has proposed backtracking on the speed limit reduction from 90kph to 80.

However, it will be left to regional authorities to decide on whether to implement any change rather than a nationwide blanket change.

Cheese-eating surrender monkeys

Yeah, this was mentioned in the newsletter... Spent a long time manually checking every single French camera that was set to 90. Can't say I'm pleased about this...!!!

Will have to wait and see how it unfolds...

At least it'll be less critical going the other way, limits increasing rather than decreasing Wink

That's true. Thankfully I tagged all the ones that were changed so I can easily pull them out in a database search.

I think the main issue will be the fact that it could be regional changes rather than a blanket change. At present I have a good understanding of the rules regarding carriageways etc so I can correct any French submission speeds - if it's different rules in different regions then that's gonna be practically impossible to check that way.

It seems that if there will no longer be a national (default) speed limit then every junction where roads with a different limit meet will require at least 8 speed limit signs, something that is not required for a nationwide default limit. The cost implications may kill the possibility of anything happening.
