I've put my first set of custom POIs on my new 2599.

They are geocaching, put on with a GSAK macro and POIloader.

When viewing the map they all show asa blue dot. But if I tap one it turns into the correct geocache icon.
Is that normal or have I missed an operation out?

Also, now they are in there, will they always show as I drive around?
(they used to on the tomtom)

I'm not sure. I don't place my geocaches on my nuvi. POIs should show as you drive around so I assume those will show Confused However it might depend on zoom level Question as this can vary depending on the model.

really? Mine don't show on 2547 as I drive around .If I want to see them I have to search? That would be handy travelling in our motorhome....

As I said, it's model dependant and Garmin tend to vary how favourites and POIs show. If yours don't then I guess that's how they work on that model. On my 2508 POIs and favourites show up.

I know with the cameras if you don't have the same name bmp file in place for POILoader to match you will get a blue dot instead of the camera symbol.

Is the the same issue?

I have a 2699. Originally the PGPSW icons had a blue dot in them all the time, masking the speed numbers. Contrary to a statement on the forums a few years back, I have discovered that the 44 x 44 icons do work on my 6" screen and interestingly do not show the blue dot until the secondary bong goes off as you get closer. Because the icon is larger you can still read the speed around the blue dot. I use the excellent CSV to GPX converter by Kremmin and I have it set to separate the overspeed warnings. Incidentally the 44 x 44 icons look superb and appear about the same size as the inbuilt Garmin POIs

A POI is usually a .CSV file

If you have a POI file as say GardenCentres.csv then in the same folder you will need a GardenCentres.bmp which should be a normal size icon, say 24x24.

POILoader will attach the bmp to the POI locations and you should lose the default blue dot.

Today was the first time I have had reason to use the nuvi.
The geocaches showed perfectly on the map, and the alerts that pop up showing the cache name even better.

Very happy.
