As I just replied to your PM, having just bought an Android handset, I can see the interest in the custom ROM scene, there are so many to choose from, and so many new features made available with each new release, that it's quite engrossing!

We are looking at a solution to the new device ID issue being triggered on certain models of Android phone but in the interim we have been, and continue to action support requests and we won't be moaning at anyone who's updating their ROMs every day or every week.

I was thinking is it a matter of certain models, or because the way the new Rom is installed.

If one [that sounds a bit Royal Laughing] installs without Wiping their Data, no advised for many a reason the cause of Boot loop, could that be a reason the ID does not change on those devices. [I don't mean the Boot loop as the cause Smile]

I ask because, I always do a Full Wipe of Boot, System, Cache, and Dalvik-Cache, on each and every CyanogenMod Nightly Build install.

I think clearing the cache MAY be one of the causes on certain devices. However, i have cleared the cache, flashed and NOT had a change of ID...

My findings so far seem to suggest that a change in the Android version is what triggers the ID change. I've done many flashes of different versions of FroydVillain without changing the ID. However, all these were based on the same version of Android. Once I updated to a version of FroydVillain that also updated the version of Android then I got the change.

Yes, the more I think about it you are most probably correct.

As I am going between three different Rom now as mike1986. [XDA], is now making a Nightly Called:- Android 2.3 "Gingerbread" ROM for HTC Desire HD... to go with his now regular Android Revolution HD... and also the CyanogenMod Nightly Builds. Rolling Eyes

So my device ID will being changing quite a lot.Surprised

Just a thought but if you add a fourth device, be it a ROM mod or a new phone, could we not simply be offered the option to unlink an older device?

An alternative would be the option to clear all devices through our online account. That could prevent a lot of work from support tickets.

genius idea! obviously vetoed as this post is ancient!
i want to experiment with a Rom, but the ball ache that is CA (the only app that cares about device count, even Amazon Music counts devices and is not freaked by a rom change)puts me off!
titanium backup can restore device id, but messes other things...

oh and can we please have the app updated in Play Store please?it's been a year and Lollipop is out..

bump!

i have tried out the new android M build and reset my phone, titanium backup can restore device id, but , suprise other things went tits up!
luckily my twrp restore seems to have recovered my cameralert app.

someone suggested "
Or as an alternative ask the developer to use your Google account as verification upon sign in (as most modern apps do), that app hasn't been updated since last year. As I can see it involves a subscription, I can understand why you wouldnt be eager to just remove the app to fix the issue. I only use TWRP backup to backup the initial phone image when i buy it, and then I'm flashing everything from there on out. I only make app backups with TiBu so that I can quickly restore all apps when I flash a new ROM, foregoing the Android Backup method of restoring apps from the cloud. In this application, TiBu excels, however your circumstances are unique."

any chance?
i really appreciate the speedy help with support tickets on this matter, but would prefer not to have to ask (as i've played with a Rom and need rescuing!)every time.

android M is coming so maybe the tech people could look into a different device count/id thing?
i am sure most Rom flashing fans are genuine and not taking the with devices!

thanks again for your help
