I know this is a dumb question but here goes. Just picked up a Garmin gps 64 and I can clearly see my track but then there is also a straight line across the track. What is that and how can I manage settings to avoid that line in the future. In this snapshot it is the red diagonal line across the screen upper right corner to lower left corner that I want to eliminate.

EDIT: Not familiar with Basecamp, so this morning I looked at the track log and saw that I had turned on the gps at my house at 7AM and then off at 8AM. Rode to the trailhead and turned it back on at 9AM. When I deleted the track points of 7-9 then the straight line disappears. How do I go into settings to fix this in the future.

I have a garmin Gpsmap 62CSx and what you must do when you have arrived a start of you walk/cycle/drive that you want to record as a track is delete/reset the track and all other data about a previous trip. Your previous trip was that you turned it on at home so it recorded a mini track, mini miles and mini elevation etc.

On my 62CSx its Trip Computer screen - menu button - menu gives you reset option - press enter -You now get several tick boxes but by default already ticked are:- Reset Trip Data - Reset Odometer - reset Max speed - Reset Elevation Data - Clear Track log. The apply button is already selected so I just press enter and your done.

If you are wanting clear all data i.e Saved Tracks, All Waypoints and All Routes just select all.

So basically on you garmin find the screen that allows you to clear Track log etc.

Hope this helps

Alan
