Hello all

I'm new on here

I have an EMTAC BT GPS which works well outdoors but not in the house

I want to use it indoors for pre planning, so I intend to get a suitable aerial

I know that GPS aerials have various types of connection to the GPS unit

I need to confirm the correct connector for the EMTAC

Help please Smile

Peter

Thanks for your reply

I am looking at the EMTAC now

The issue is that I am not familiar with GPS aerial connectors

I can see the connector on the side of the device

A circular hole, about 5mm dia, which seems to be some type of co-axial connector

That fact leaves me no nearer the answer to my original question

Regards

Peter

Well your device isn't amongst the usual ones that crop up here. If you take the device to a relevant shop they'll be able to tell you, or maybe post a photo here so that we can have a look?

Without being able to see the connector clearly, it's difficult. However, my old Garmin GPS10 BT receiver uses an MCX connector and the hole on the Emtac looks similar. This is a popular connector for GPS units. Perhaps you can search for MCX connector and see if the pictures and dimensions look as though they'd fit.

Check this out. I know it's unavailable from Amazon but you might be able to find it elsewhere.

Many thanks for your messages Tim

I think it is an MCX but didn't say so because I wanted that to come from someone who knows a lot more than me

Will try to post a closeup picture

Measured the internal diameter of the socket with my digital caliper

It measures 3.2 mm

(Less than I estimated originally)
