I had already guessed this, but surely, the problem will be when we change phones and need to download it again? (Or does the magic iTunes backup transfer it to the new phone?).

CA updates could be a problem too Rolling Eyes

If you backup your old iPhone to iTunes and restore it to the new one all apps / settings/ contacts etc. are transferred

In what sense? New builds of CA (the app) won't happen if Apple don't allow the app in the App Store without resorting to Jail Breaking devices. The database updates aren't affected as this is controlled by PGPSW.

So if Apple say "Your app contains content or features that facilitate, enable, or encourage an activity that is not legal in all the locations in which the app is available.".

Does that mean that all of the hunting, shooting, contract killing etc. games don't have an impact? You can download masses of games that involve killing lifelike human characters with blood and gore....... Last time I checked (joke BTW) I was under the impression that these games aren't always promoting a legal activity. Apple have double standards...they should give the consumer the choice of what apps they choose and let the consumer make their own educated and informed choice. No Apple are loosing market share in so many countries.

I don't really see what all the fuss is about?

If you have already purchased the app and downloaded it, along with synchronising whatever iOS device you have with iTunes on your PC / Mac, then the app file sits on your PC / Mac.

So long as you don't deliberately delete it, it stays in your iTunes folder (usually in a subfolder called something like Mobile applications).

Whatever iOS device you then link and connect to iTunes, you will be able to add it to now or in the future!

Once you have bought and downloaded the app it's yours to keep.

In the same way that waterstones stopping selling a book, doesn't mean that your own copy disappears from your own bookshelf.

Thanks for the clarification, I'd worried about that for years Wink

I guess if you are ultra paranoid and wanted to make sure you can maintain access to the app, go to the relevant folder on your computer find the app file and make a copy of it somewhere else.

If you ever lose it you can simply add it back to the folder and iTunes at a later date!

The issue was more to let people know to download it if they haven't already because it may get removed.

So that means if I buy the next iPhone I should be able to load to that device as I already downloaded it now.
How about updates to the app.
I am not too keen on the way the app user interface works.
The letters are far too small to read while driving and too much space is used for unnecessary information.
If I have the app running in my car or bike, I don't care about the next 15 cameras on the route. I only care about the next one.
I also don't care about the once on the other side of the road as they won't affect me.
That would give so much more space for the information of the next coming camera like distance etc.
Also the reporting of cameras should be possible from the main screen without searching. Once I passed it I won't remember.
I like CamerAlert as the price is right, the forum is a great addition and you guys clearly know what you are talking about, but the usability has to improve
Have a look at iCoyote. Their user interface is great, but they are useless in everything else beside being far more expensive.

Yes, so long as you have it backed up in iTunes.

There wouldn't be any as Apple are threatening to remove it completely[/quote]

It is - tap the speed cam icon in the middle of the bottom bar.

I wonder if that is the same Coyote which is on the new Renault R-Link built in thingy. If it is, I wouldn't touch it with your bargepole. For starters, I can't see how to make it work - I know I don't do RTFM, but that's OK because there isn't one! Confused
