Clearly the insurance companies think the course is worthless. It does nothing to educate those on it to help speed awareness. Drivers who take it are worse than those who don't. I think the police should answer that with facts and statistics to stick it to the insurance companies and stop the nonsense.

The article strikes me as being somewhat light on facts and may well just be scaremongering. 'It has been discovered that some insurance companies.......'

Discovered by who? How was it discovered? Which insurance companies? There is not one cited example of this being the case.

However, IF certain companies are loading policies having asked the question well, they are free to ask whatever questions they wish in assessing the risk they are being expected to cover and those questions must be answered honestly and completely. You are free, however, to take your business elsewhere should you not like the questions........

I'm getting fed up with being a wallet on wheels. Too scared even to scratch my nose at the wheel unless some over-zelous do-gooders decree that my car was out of control for a second and they have the evidence of 20 zillion cameras to prove it!

Come the revolution when we stand united, refuse to tax and insure our vehicles and go everywhere at the speed we feel is correct for the road and the conditions. Just like we used to! Demand that we, and our money, are not taken for granted.

There would be too many people for the Authorities and Rip-off companies to deal with, the system would go into melt down.

Flame Away!

EDIT - Naivety is bliss!

The BBC article does actually state that it is Admiral. I understand it may also be subsidiaries of Admiral.

Ahh! That'll teach me to check out the link!

In which case, Admiral, and any company that asks the question, should be avoided. Thee are plenty of other companies out there; I just hope they don't all take their lead from Admiral.

The irony is that, as mentioned previously, the courses are only offered to minor transgressors so one could argue that, having had a dose of 're-education' they should pose a LOWER risk than someone who has never been caught speeding.....

You'd be surprised how many others actually ARE still Admiral...

Diamond,
Bell,
Elephant.co.uk,
Gladiator...

If it all gets too confusing, you could go to one of the independent comparison sites like Confused.com....

Ah, no, hang on. They are owned by Admiral too. Evil or Very Mad

Except 'Are you male or female?' Rolling Eyes Companies should be able to assess risk on any topic they want to to set premiums. Gender discrimination is a load of baloney as female drivers are known to statistically lower risk than male, so their premiums should be lower and shove the politically correct tossers in the EU up their own a****s
