I am new to PDA's and GPS and I have just Purchased CoPilot 5.
I am generally very impressed with the system however it does sometimes get confused regading the amount of exits on roundabouts. My main concern is that it does not annouce every speed camera when in guidance mode. I have checked the Poi index for saftey camera's on the desktop and the one's that it did not announce are in the database. Is it me or is there a bug in the system. Any guidance on this would be appriciated

i have asked the same question in this forum.i am using the wav female voice not the male voice to text and am wondering if this makes a difference as the voice to text gives you more info like the street names and road numbers..

Personally I haven't noticed it missing any speed cameras, the ones I drive past seem to be announced providing they are installed and are on the map.

There are several options you can tweak like being able to be notified of cameras only on-route or off-route too and a distance set, so you may want to tweak these a little.

Hi Dave

Thanks for your response. I tried it again this morning and some cameras are still not working. Am I missing something. I am using a quickstart SD card and assumed that all the safety camera data was already on there. Do I have to download the data from the decktop to the PDA. Is there any way of telling which camera's are already on the SD card.

I am using Female Wave and it picks up all the cameras I pass from the new database. I have it installed as a custom POI along with 4 other Custom POI's and they all give the correct warning.

I am trying to get Co-Pilot 5 PPC on my Mio 168 to announce the speed cameras with no luck to date!.
(The speed cameras show up on both my Mio 168 and the desktop maps).
I have tried everything in the options on the Mio 168, everything with the Landmark reporting option on the desktop version before trabfering to my Mio and still no luck!.
Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks in adavnce. 8O

You need Text To Speech (TTS) and not female WAV files. WAV files cannot speak directions but TTS can.

Are you sure? I'm using female wave and directions are spoken, anouncements of POI's are not spoken but displayed as text on the safety screen.

Yes but are you running Female TTS ? Or WAV's ? WAV's don't have the facility AFAIK to speak anything like POI proximities as the vocabulary isn't there, a separate WAV file would need to be created for every single POI and distance.

In-fact I have TTS on one of my PPC's and WAV on the other, and I have just played back a route through 4 speed cameras, and all you get under WAV is the pop-up screen showing the speed camera information (no audible information).

When you have TTS (Text To Speech) installed it will read out the entire screen like "Safety Camera 1 of 1 in X miles approaching".

As I said I'm using Female WAV There is NO Female TTS in the UK release. I switched from the Male TTS to Female WAV as I find The higher pitch of the Female voice clearer and easier to hear over the traffic noise, but you have to rely on the screen to show the POI's
