AFAIK and I may be wrong here, but I didn't think it was down to the application to disconnect the connection. Once the connection is open it's like a broadband connection. It's open constantly until you manually close it or if an application thinks it's using a dial-up connection and tries to disconnect the connectoid. The only way it should disconnect is if you manually disconnect the call or if an application isn't GPRS aware. I don't think CoPilot or other apps will be trickle sending data to keep the connection live.

Certainly when I establish a connection on my 2210 the connection stays open until I lose GPRS coverage (drops to 1 bar) or I terminate it.

I've just set up the live function in anticipation of the traffic update. I can confirm that CP5 does keep the connection open. You can then choose how often it actually sends updated position information to the live server.
