Plugged my Satmap into the USB and left it on charge overnight. It was showing it was charging so i thought in the morning it would be fully charged.

I unplugged it and tried to turn it on but its dead.

Anyone had any issues like this??

How old is the battery as they do have a life span and beyond a certain point they simply won't retain a charge, this applies to all Li-Pol type batteries - Mike

Are you charging with the mains charger or a PC USB port ?

When you unplug after charging the unit remains on, no need to turn it on. Was it dead immediately after charging or was it dead a few days later ? maybe you forgot to turn it off after the charge, yep I've done that Evil or Very Mad

Was it really dead or just in hibernate mode. I disable hibernate, seems a daft feature to me, if you want to save power turn it off, the Satmap gets a lock quick enough from cold anyway.

My Satmap is over 2 years old and the Lipol still has enough capacity for a full 8 hours+ use after an overnight charge so maybe you have a faulty unit or battery.

As soon as i unplug it from either the mains or laptop i then try to turn it on but nothing happens.

When i use 3 AA batteries everything works fine.

Sent satmap an email last night but no reply yet.

One other thing.

I use Memory Map to plot my routes, i then convert them to GPX to use them on my Satmap. Am i better off converting them to tracks as it just said some of my routes have over 500 waypoints and it may affect the Satmap

Same here. I rode the Llangollen Panorama Audax a few weeks using my Satmap using a route with over 2000 points and it was fine, you can safely ignore that warning although it is good practise to keep the waypoints to a minimum.

If you do want to reduce an existing route the yes convert to a track and then you can use track properties to reduce the total number of points, it will be less accurate but still probably fine to navigate by.
