Hi All,

Does anyone know if the map corrections you download get reset for each map & version?

i.e, on a previous v8.65 map, I know of at least 2 roads which are corrected by downloading the map correction files.

On my new v8.70 map, the incorrect road details are still shown, however these have not been re-corrected after downloading a fresh set of corrections.

Basically, do we now have to wait for v870 users to resubmit all the corrections again, before they are distributed in the correction files?

I have tried to use my v8.65 map correction files for the new v8.70 map, but they didnt work as suspected.

I can kind of see the logic to not accept any previous corrections to a new map, however if that section of the map has not been updated, then surely any previous corrections submitted should still apply, esp if they were verified by TomTom?

AFAIK, it was always the intention that MapShare corrections would be carried over onto new maps.

For a long time it definitely wasn't happening, but I'm sure I remember reading that TomTom said they had started porting them across.

If it still isn't happening they need a good *******ing

I have a feeling some get reset, however most of mine seem to get carried over.

Most of mine, if not all, get carried over now.

Used to be like Andy says where a new map meant all corrections had to be resubmitted, now almost all of mine carry forward!

Just tried another map correction download...

v8.65 says 30211 MapShare map corrections in use
v8.70 says 1494 MapShare map corrections in use

Both figures & sizes of the files downloaded grown a tad since yesterday.

Clearly they dont seem to be carrying over for me at least.

Both maps are of the same type, ie Western_Europe

Its not really much of a big deal, but effectivally, the v8.65 map is more upto date then v8.70...

Cheers

That doesn't really follow.....

The whole idea of Mapshare was that corrections from one map were used to improve the next map, rather than have to be carried over into it.

If v865 has 30211 MapShare map corrections in use
and v870 has 1494 corrections in use, then MAYBE ~28500 corrections from 865 were used to produce the base map for v870.

I'm not saying they actually were, but that was the idea so some of them might have....

Andy, I think you are partly correct.

But, the way I see it is simply that as v865 is older than v870, then there have been more corrections submitted and 'verified' over the map's lifetime.

v865 is older than v870, so more corrections are in the system for the older map.
